It turns out that one of our adoption agency's requirements is that if you have lived in another country for more than 6 months you need a police check done in that country. About a year after my husband and I started dating he moved to Japan to teach English for 11 months. So off Matthew went to the Japanese Embassy in Toronto a couple weeks ago. His fingerprints were taken and are now being sent with his information to Japan for clearance.They told him it could be two months before we hear back. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this doesn’t delay anything.
We also went to London around the same time and had digital fingerprints taken for our Canadian RCMP/Interpol clearance which cost $155 (My brother-in-law Ryan made sure to remind us that they provide that service for free to criminals – haha).
