REFERRAL !!!

I almost can't believe I am typing up this post, I still feel like I am in a bit of a dream.
Matthew and I got "the call" Thursday last week just before lunch and we have been matched with the sweetest little boy (just under 3 yrs old).

I was at work just typing up some emails to coworkers before lunch and the pager I carry around with me went off. I looked at it and it was Matthew's number requesting a call back. I called him back to see what he wanted and he was in tears on the other end of the phone. At first I thought he was playing some kind of sick joke on me, but when he wouldn't calm down I started to freak out as well. He told me that we got "the call" and that they were sending all of the details to our email. We both promised not to open the email until we got home so that we could see everything together, and then arranged coverage at work so that we could leave. We raced home and I couldn't stop myself from screaming with excitement all the way, if anyone looked in my car passing by they would have thought I was nuts (which I was).... and then we fell in love with the cutest little boy I have ever seen (I may already be a bit biased - haha).

So there you have it! We felt like it was never going to happen, and then poof in an instant your whole world changes. We met with a social worker on Friday and signed our consent form, so now we just wait for a court date.

Thanks for all of the best wishes people have sent us already. I waited to post about it on the blog until today because we still had some family members to share the news with. (-:

Would you place children with these people?

Doing a sexy pose at the Imagine Gala....yep thats all we've got for a sexy pose (haha). So for those of you who missed out on the event it was a lot of fun. MP Glen Pearson had a very moving speech, the food was great (yum caramel cheesecake who could forget about that), it was great to see some friends, and I got a kick out of watching the kids dance to the Ethiopian band. Here is hoping we have a little one to take next year to make kissy kissy faces with us (-:

Happy New Month

Well there is not much that is new to share, so "happy new month" everyone. That was random, I know. Here is a post-olympic photo we had taken at the mall, also very random - haha.

Ticker

Someone remind me again why adoption bloggers love those darn tickers that keep track of how long you have been waiting??
I moved mine to the bottom of my blog so that I don't have to look at it all the time...

18 months waiting for a referral and
one year, 11 months and 6 days since we started the process.

Yikes!

Can this Onion Ring get more fans than Stephen Harper?

This is really too friggin' funny. I guess someone on Facebook started a group called "Can this Onion Ring get more fans than Stephen Harper?". The point was to see if they could get more fans to join their group in comparison to the 30,0o0 some fans Steven Harper's facebook group has. As of today the Onion ring has 117,000 fans. I love it! Some of the comments people are posting are also really funny, like...

"What is the onion ring's platform? ...how does it feel about fries?"
"How does Harper feel about onion rings? We already know he likes prorogies."
and someone just posted "I find it really sad that a virtual onion ring has more fans than our PM"...to which someone else replied "I find it inspiring for onion rings....Everywhere!"

Anyways, I joined. Check it out for a laugh.

Black History Month

Matthew and I just watched this movie yesterday. We thought with it being black history month it would be an interesting movie to rent. I highly recommend it if you have not seen it before. It is based on the true story of a slave ship where there was a mutiny and the African people aboard manage to gain control of the ship, and the legal fight for their freedom that follows.
